"The Iron Lady"

Films: The Day the Earth Stopped (2008)

Alias: None

Type: Alien

Location: Civilized Area

Height/Weight: That of large buildings.

Affiliation: Neutral, leaning on Good

Summary: The Asylum strikes again with another film that tries to ape a more successful one with all the subtlety of a brick to the face. And this time, they don't have a completely different plotline to hide behind. Though at the very least, they tried. Token effort, but still.

History: A grand total of 666 colossal robots have been brought to Earth to decide mankind's fate. An alien race, heralded by a pair of male and female ambassadors, will decide whether or not we are a threat to everything. If we are, the robots will stop the Earth's rotation and unleash Armageddon. But if we can prove our nobleness to them, or at least the one known as Skye, we'll be left off the hook.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: After being shown at least one good thing about humanity, Skye manages to get back to one of the robots with the help of both a human and her male counterpart so that she can call off the invasion. After wrecking the Earth for some time, the robots depart.

Powers/Abilities: Near-invulnerability, laser beams, and EMP blasts.

Weakness: None.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-The thought of indestructible robotic juggernauts is never a pleasant one, especially if they're ridiculously large and vaporize everything that hits them. But not only is the CGI standard Asylum fair, but they also are only attacking because we are kind of jerks at times. Gort would be proud.

Trivia: -This film was one of the few times a major studio attempted to sue the Asylum, with 20th Century Fox none too pleased about this film trying to capitalize on their remake of "The Day the Earth Stood Still".

-Ironically, this film was released at least three days before the film it was ripping off.

Because we moved to California.
Because calling them Space Invaders wasn't enough.
Look close enough and it looks like he's defacing the streets with...oil.
